Details
Cara is a main crop seed potato and are high quality ideal for late lifting. They are pest and disease resistant and are great for cooking potato wedges, mashing or chipping. Cara potatoes have high yields - it's a classic baking variety with pink eyes.
Cara seed potatoes are great for:
Planting can take place as soon as the risk of frost has passed in your area, during spring, March - April. Plant 10-13cm (4-5inches) deep in shallow ridges. Seed should be 20-23cm (8-9inches) apart in the row, with 60cm (24inches) between each row.
Earth the plants up when they are 20cm (8inches) tall. This encourages a higher yield of potatoes.
Watering your plants well will improve crop yield and discourage scab from forming.
Harvest July - October
Our whole range of seed potatoes are Certified Scottish seed potatoes.
