This is the most popular red variety. Desiree main crop seed potatoes are drought resistant and also have a high yield.
Desiree seed potatoes are great for:
Planting can take place as soon as the risk of frost has passed in your area, during spring, March - April. Plant 10-13cm (4-5inches) deep in shallow ridges. Seed should be 20-23cm (8-9inches) apart in the row, with 60cm (24inches) between each row.
Earth the plants up when they are 20cm (8inches) tall. This encourages a higher yield of potatoes.
Watering your plants well will improve crop yield and discourage scab from forming.
Harvest July - October
