This Autumn's range will be available in August and contains many varieties which haven't been available in the UK before. We've also added to our range of Allium bulbs, which are very much in vogue this season.

Some particular varieties to note:

Planting bulbs is an easy and cheap way to get some early colour into your garden next spring - you just need to remember to plan ahead. Spring flowering bulbs should be planted in Autumn (usually September onwards).

<![CDATA[Autumn Bulbs Season Update]]> Sun, 22 Aug 2010 15:02:36 +0000 As you're probably the weather towards the end of last year and most of this year hasn't been 'typical' of the British climate. This has had a knock on effect for the bulb harvest this Autumn.

Although in the first half of the year, the season was running about 3 weeks behind normal, nature has caught up most of the delay and things are only about 5-7 days behind normal now.

Below you will find the Autumn Bulb Update from Adam Taylor, Taylor and Sons Bulbs Ltd.

UK Daffodils

The recent dry conditions have made slow work of lifting and UK daffodil bulbs yields are lower than expected as a result of two consecutive arid growing seasons (UK daffodils spend two years in the ground).

Species Narcissi, Tulips, Hyacinth and Crocus

Many varieties are short on predicted yields whilst others have coped much better and yields are just as expected. Crocus have been the hardest hit and are likely to be the first notable group that run short. However, there is not an overall shortage of other bulbs.

<![CDATA[Lawn Disease Control : New for 2010]]> Sun, 13 Jun 2010 11:53:59 +0000 Lawn Disease Control is a new product developed by Bayer Garden now available to the home garden market. Lawn Disease Control treats common lawn problems like Red Thread and Fusarium which cause patches and discolouration in lawns.

Available in boxes containing 3 sachets which treat an area of 20sq m each (1 box treats 60sq m).

When to Use Lawn Disease Control

Lawn Disease Control can be used all year round. Do not treat your lawn more than twice in the same year and ensure there is at least 4 weeks between treatments.

Lawn Disease Control should only be applied to established garden lawns. If you have identified a disease or fungus such as red thread or fusarium treat the whole lawn not just the effected areas.

Ideally, Lawn Disease Control should be applied at the first signs of infestation. Do not apply during droughts and in frosts if the ground is frozen. Lawn Disease Control can be applied after mowing, but allow 48 hours after application before you mow again to let the active ingredient take effect.

Always allow the spray to dry before using the lawn.

How to Use Lawn Disease Control

Mark out the garden into 20sq m sections, this will make applying the correct dosage of product much simpler.

Fill a sprayer with 1 litre of water and tear open a sachet of Lawn Disease Control. Inside the sachet you will find another clear sachet containing Lawn Disease Control granules. Do not open this second sachet!

Drop the second sachet into the sprayer and leave to stand for 2 minutes. The inner sachet is water soluble and will dissolve. Shake the sprayer gently to mix.

Apply the spray evenly over a 20sq m area of your lawn.

Safety and Environmental Information

Lawn Disease Control is only for use as a home garden fungicide. It is very toxic to aquatic organisms an should not be used near ponds, streams or other aquatic environments.

Dispose of any unused product at a household waste site, your local authority can give you more details. Do not empty this product into drains.

Never open the water soluble sachet, Lawn Disease Control can cause skin irritation.

Lawn Disease Control contains 500g/kg trifloxystrobin as a water dispersible granule. Always read the label, use safely.

<![CDATA[New Greenhouse Shading for 2010! ]]> Fri, 04 Jun 2010 15:24:41 +0000

New in Stock this year our Greenhouse Shading is a proven technology from the commercial growing sector made by the well established brand, 'Growing Success'. This easy on easy off product protects your plants from direct sunlight and regulates temperatures, which is vital to help stimulate healthy growth in any plant.
Using its advanced technology can even help on a wet dreary day. By going clear in the dull weather it helps to maintain as good light conditions as the weather will permit. Being children and pet safe, once applied you don't need to worry about it until the end of the season. It can be applied to glass, plastic and polycarbonates and is suitable for use in organic systems.

When to use:

To get the best out of your Greenhouse shading, apply to the outside of your green house in late March or early April & remove in mid October. Apply to all panels that are in direct sunlight. Remember this includes your roof.

How to use:

Application:

To mix your green house shading, cut the corner off one of the sachet and empty the contents into 500ml of water and stir thoroughly for a minute or until the mixture has dissolved into the water. Apply by using a sprayer and make sure to spray evenly for a good finish or alternatively apply with a clean cloth. Once dry your plants are protected from direct sunlight.

Removal:

Each Greenhouse shading box comes with a special cleaning gel than can be applied with either a spray or a clean cloth. Tip the contents of your cleaner into 1400ml of water and apply to treated areas. This should be plenty to remove the contents of your 4 sachet box (15m2). Leave the cleaner to stand for at least 30 minutes and remove with clean water. You can also leave your applied cleaner contents to be washed off by the rain.

<![CDATA[Mephedrone]]> Fri, 05 Mar 2010 15:37:32 +0000 None of the products we sell including our full plant food range contains mephedrone or its derivatives.

Despite mephedrone being marketed in the UK as a plant food, to the best of our knowledge, mephadrone is a chemical which is of no benefit as a plant food.

Plant Me Now do sell a comprehensive range of plant foods that, when fed to plants, do benefit plants!

<![CDATA[Plant Me Now Support BBC Breathing Places ‘Save Our Bees’ Campaign]]> Sun, 13 Sep 2009 03:21:21 +0000 One of the UK's leading online garden centres is backing the BBC Breathing Places 'Save Our Bees' campaign by offering some fantastic deals on Wildflower Seeds.

The BBC 'Save Our Bees' campaign has been launched as part of the broadcasters National Science Week and are giving away free packets of Wildflower Seeds in an effort to encourage bees back into UK gardens.

Working alongside the popular children's television show Blue Peter, the BBC are offering UK residents the chance to grow Wildflowers such as Cornflower, Poppy and Field Scabious, flowers which are known to be bee-friendly and provide food for the 250 bee species which can be seen across the UK.

With many of these species declining in numbers or even reaching extinction due to loss of habitat the campaign is extremely important. According to the BBC 'three species of bumblebee have already become extinct here and many more are in rapid decline. Only six species are now common and widespread as a lot of their natural habitats are being destroyed.'

For gardeners and conservationists bees are extremely important as they are responsible for pollinating and helping garden plants reproduce and flourish. Without bees this whole reproductive process would decline resulting not only in a loss of bees but also in a loss of some of the garden plants they feed on.

For Plant Me Now, the BBC campaign is great news and online garden centre has plenty to offer wildflower enthusiasts including some great deals on Cornflower Seeds, Cowslip Seeds and Poppy Seeds.

Tim Milward for the online garden centre commented on the campaign:

Bees are an extremely important part of any garden ecosystem and we should be doing everything we can to ensure they survive. Wildflowers are a beautiful way to help look after bees and the fact that they are hardy and easy to grow means that anyone with a garden can grow them.

We fully support the 'Save Our Bees' campaign and agree that we should be teaching younger generations to preserve and protect garden insects such as bees from extinction. Our Bugs, Bees and Butterflies Mixed Seeds are a great way to encourage children to take an interest in nature and encourage wildlife back into UK gardens.

For anyone interested in investing in more Wildflower Seeds for the garden then Plant Me Now are even offering free posting and packaging. Please visit www.plantmenow.co.uk for more information. Or for more information about the 'Save Our Bees' campaign from the BBC and to claim your free packet of Wildflower seeds visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces/animals/bees.shtml.
