Provado Lawn Grub Killer is a systemic insecticide for the treatment of chafer grubs and leatherjackets in lawns. Lawn grub killer is highly effective agaist Chafer grubs (the larvae of Chafer Beetles) and Leatherjackets (the larvae of Daddy Longlegs).
Provado is most effective when used preventatively - ie before the pest has a chance to flourish in the garden. The lawn grubs feed from the grasses roots causing yellow and brown unsightly patches in the lawn which are often blamed on pets or drought.
When to Use Provado Lawn Grub Killer
For the treatment of Chafer Grubs: Use in May / June as soon as you see the first Chafer Beetles emerge.
For the treatment of Leatherjackets: Use from mid August / September when daddy longlegs are seen hopping along the lawn.
How to Use Provado Lawn Grub Killer
A box of Provado Lawn Grub Killer contains 10 sachets of product which is enough to cover 100sq m of lawn.
Mow the lawn the day before or just before treatment - apply in the evening.
- Apply on a calm, dry day when the soil is slightly moist.
- Do not apply in sunny weather.
- Do not apply to lawns that are waterlogged or very dry as this will decrease the effectiveness of the product.
- Wait three days after treatment before cutting the lawn.
- Do not use the first four mowings as mulch or compost any grass clippings for at least 6 months.
- Do not graze animals on treated areas or use clippings from treated areas for feed or forage for four weeks.
- Treat the whole lawn evenly.
Simply mix 1 sachet with 9 litres of water in a watering can fitted with a coarse rose or sprinkler bar and stir well. Use immediately, applying evenly to the lawn over an area of 10 sq m.
Thoroughly water the product in, ensuring the lawn s well watered to wash the active ingredient through the thatch into the soil but do not overwater. 5 to 15mm of rainfall is sufficient or 5 to 15 litres of water per square metre.
Safety and Environmental Information
Children and pets need not be excluded from treated areas once dry. Grazing animals like rabbits and Guinea pigs should be kept away from treated areas for 4 weeks.
The chemical in provado lawn grub killer can be hazardous to bees, always mow the lawn before applying (to remove any flowering weeds like dandelions, buttercups or daisies) and apply in the late evening that way bees won't be around until it has dried. Do not use when lowering weeds are present.
Do not apply near ponds or streams.
Provado Lawn Grub Killer contains imidacloprid, always read the label, use safely.
