International Kidney is the variety grown in Jersey and known as Jersey Royals potatoes. Made famous for their flavour, these very popular classic potatoes are perfect as salad potatoes in early summer.
Jersey Royal seed potatoes are great for:
To sprout seed potatoes, place in a light, cool area. Protect from frost.
Planting can take place as soon as the risk of frost has passed in your area, during spring, March-May. Plant 10-13cm (4-5inches) deep in shallow ridges. Seed should be 20-23cm (8-9inches) apart in the row, with 60cm (24inches) between each row.
Earth the plants up when they are 20cm (8inches) tall. This encourages a higher yield of potatoes.
Watering your plants well will improve crop yield and discourage scab from forming.
